We also discuss topics such as Maid Cafés, how bullying affects everyone, deafness portrayed in a very different movie - and of course, another pokémon reference...

For our second billing for 'Ani-May', Paul decided to have Sophie experience and review the not-so happy Studio Ghibli movie in their catalogue, Grave of the Fireflies.
We also talk about comparisons to tragedies in Disney films, if at any point we were bawling our eyes out, and why this was paired with My Neighbor Totoro as a double feature!

We love Japan, and we love anime - so this month's episodes are soley focused around ones Sophie hasn't seen, and what we've to witness for the first time!
To kick things off with our cleverly titled theme - that being 'Ani-May' - we went to the cinema to see the new Makoto Shinkai movie Suzume - or Suzume no Tojimari in it's full Japanese title (lit. Suzume's Locking Up).
We talk about how well this stacks up to his previous works, the atmsophere at the screening, a recollection of a natural disaster, and another pokemon reference!

A rare incident has occured where Paul is seeing a film Sophie has already seen - which was one of the two Melissa McCarthy movies that the Patreons picked from. Sophie thanks you, Paul not so much...
But there is hilarity that comes from this episode on The Heat (and not just from the content of this movie?) as well as Paul's view on another female comedian, Sophie finding deeper meaning from the two lead performances, and an incident with broken glass...

"And in that moment, I swear we were infinite..."
We're mixing things up a little bit by covering a few films that we never got around to giving our thoughts on, or what Sophie didn't finish all the way through. In this first iteration we're revisiting and talking about The Perks of Being a Wallflower, from the mind of Stephen Chbosky who wrote the book, adapted the screenplay and directed the movie!
We talk high school life, tunnel songs, and who in Paul's life the character Patrick reminds Sophie of...
Three years on from when we initially recording on thoughts on this film - it's finally arrived, and we hope it was worth the wait!
